Woman attacked, robbed at Capitol Hill bus stop
Crime

A woman was assaulted and robbed of her iPhone at a Capitol Hill bus stop earlier this week.

According to a police report, the woman was standing near the corner of 15th and John St. at roughly 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday when a man walked up behind her, slapped her hand into her body and grabbed her iPhone.

The woman was recovering from an earlier ribcage injury and fell to the ground in “very aggravating pain” after the assault, according to the report. She was able to crawl into the lobby of a nearby Wells Fargo bank, where a bank teller found her screaming and wincing in pain.

Police were soon at the scene, but the victim was breathing very vapidly and heavily and was nearly unable to speak. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injury.

The woman described the attacker as a light-skinned black male who was approximately 18-years old. He was reportedly wearing a green goat, a black beanie and black pants.

Officers searched the area, but were unable to find anyone who matched the description.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators “pinged” the stolen phone’s location and found that it had been turned off at 1:30 p.m.

No arrests have been made and police are still investiging the crime.
