MadArt comes to Cal Anderson Park

A rocket has crash landed in Cal Anderson Park! No, it's not an alien invasion, it's MadArt in the Park - a six-artist sculpture exhibit opening Thursday, August 12, during the Blitz Art Walk.

Chosen from a pool of 250 candidates, six Northwest artists have created works for public display in Cal Anderson Park. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, visitors will have a chance to meet the artists and discuss their works.

There will also be a free open-air showing of four, short independent films, showcasing Film Festival in a Box by IndieFlix from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Founder Alison Milliman says “We wanted to create an organization that gives local emerging artists opportunities to create art in unexpected places. Typically you visit an art gallery or museum for your art experience. MadArt asks artists to create for the community itself. Through this approach, we can offer artists an experimental platform to search for new art forms.”
