Capitol Hill Sound Transit wall art comes together

At the corner of 10th Ave East and East John St on Capitol Hill, work continues on Sound Transit's new light rail tunnel and station. But that corner is more than just a construction site, it is a canvas too for artist Baso Fibonacci.

When construction started, contractors put up towering walls around the project to protect neighbors from the sound, dust and eyesore of the site.  Sound Transit officials took one look at those walls and decided to open them up to artists willing to transform the red murky tint into something beautiful.

Artists are paid $500 to $5,000, depending on the size and scope of their vision.

This video showcases the art created by Fibonacci. His work was not completed by the time the video was finished so to see the final project you must head to 10th and John and see it for yourself.
